The Registered Behavior Technician TM (RBT®️) is a paraprofessional who practices under the close, ongoing supervision of a BCaBA, BCBA, or BCBA-D. The RBT provides 1:1 direct therapy, and is primarily responsible for the direct implementation of behavior-analytic services as developed by a supervising BCBA. The RBT does not design intervention or assessment plans. The RBT receives direct and ongoing supervision by their supervising BCBA, and has opportunities for growth and development of behavior analytic skills based on competence observed by their supervisor. The BACB certificant supervising the RBT is responsible for the work performed by the RBT on the cases they are overseeing.
1st Step- Complete your 40 Hour Online RBT Course
Prime Autism Center offers the 40 Hour Online RBT Course to all current and prospective employees! The 40 Hour Online course is the first required step in the credentialing process. The training must be completed within a 180-day period and in no less than a 5-day period. The course will cover various topics specific to the 1:1 therapy which the RBT applicant provides, including but not limited to, the importance and introduction of ABA, Discrete Trial Training, Natural Environment Teaching (NET), Prompting and Reinforcers, and how to identify and generalize behaviors while working to decrease them.
2nd Step- Complete your Skills Competency Assessment with the help of your BCBA
The Skills Competency Assessment is demonstrated with one of our Board Certified Behavior Analysts to review the course information in greater detail and assure the participant has a clear understanding of the ABA techniques. The assessment is designed to be more hands-on, and requires the RBT applicant to show a variety of skills demonstrated with a “client.” Upon the assessment completion, our RBT Supervisor will sign all appropriate documents and send them to the participant to upload to their RBT application within their BACB Gateway Account.
3rd Step- Obtain Your RBT Credentials
Obtaining your RBT credential is one great way to advance your career within the field of Applied Behavior Analysis. To help you grow personally and professionally, Prime Autism Center offers discounted RBT course rates and guidance in completing the credentialing process. The Registered Behavior Technician credentials will stay with you, as they are international credentials and not specific to your work here at Prime Autism Center.
